and more pix.....just wish all of them had turned out. These
pix came from the day my friend Richard showed me around Nijkerk.......a
very long tour....since it was all by foot. But it was cool....learned
alot about Nijkerk's history. The pic on the top left is the tower
on the church....around which the town was built....back in the 1400's,
if I remember right. This version of the church was built in 1776...after
the old wooden one burnt down. While I was there...I got to hear
the bells playing music.....it was so cool. The top right pic is
of an old canal running through the town.....used to go by the monastery,
according to Richard. Thats just such an odd thing to me......but
so neat.
The
bottom left pic is of the police station in Nijkerk. From what
I was told.....it has always been located there. Can't imagine
such a pretty building being where the cops hang out. The bottom
right pic is of the VVV (tourist info center). That in itself isnt
all that interesting.....but its history is. It was once where
witches (supposed witches) were taken for interrogation. Then they
would be burned in the main square where I was standing......a really weird
thought. and yes.....more pix!
