This was the first castle I got to go to.......A place called Groenveld Castle.    It translates to Green Fields........I can see where it got its name....lots of green fields around it.  The top left pic is my friend Danny in front of the castle......not very clear......damn scanner again.   Does scenery real well....but not people.   Anyways.....the top right pic is of the castle again.....looks more like a mansion to me....but when in Holland....call it as they do, I guess.
We went for a walk around the green fields and walked by this house (bottom left).....it has a thatch roof.....which I just found so cool.......Danny told me it was a few feet thick (if i remember right) and that there is an art to making one.  I would think there would be....otherwise it wouldn't keep anyone dry inside, right?  Another reason I thought it was cool is that a thatch roof is not something you find in the states!   The pic on the bottom right is a view down the walkway to the castle.....it was just so gorgeous there...and quiet.  Just loved it.  And guess what?  I still have MORE pix!
